Cuivre River Retrievers is located in East Central Missouri about 45 minutes west of St. Louis, MO.

We raise high quality Labradors for both hunting and companionship and breed for excellent temperaments, good looks, and stylish retrievers. All of our dogs are OFA certified and CERF clear.

Our breeding dogs are titled in either AKC, UKC, or APLA hunt tests with many of them holding titles in multiple venues.

We only breed quality dogs with proven hunt test as well as field experience, assuring you that our dogs are capable of performing the tasks that they were bred for. We offer stud service to approved females as well as puppies and started dogs on an as available basis.

We love to stay in contact with the owners of our pups and love to hear what they have to say. This tells us how we are doing, which to us means more than all the field titles ever will!

Cuivre River Retrievers is home to Labrador Retrievers that are family pets, personal hunting companions as well as hunting/hunt test dogs.

We believe to compete is to see what you are breeding. We strive to breed dogs that maintain good health, breed conformation and yet don't loose their hunting drive and great temperament. Our goal is to place our puppies in homes where they will be companions first and foremost. Our hope is to provide long lasting family companions and hunting buddies.

To ensure this our puppies are raised in our home and not kept in kennels, we only breed 2 litters a year so that we have the time to work with and socialize each litter. Our puppies are raised underfoot and used to hearing most household noises.

At Cuivre River Retrievers we are working towards producing a true dual purpose Labrador. One that has the great classic looks, laid back, mellow temperament in the family environment and yet has unbelievable drive and desire to turn it on in the field environment. Because our dogs are in the house with us and because we hunt/compete with them, we can honestly tell where our breeding program is going and can fine tune each breeding to continuously strive to make it better.
